The Stories of Knitting (for adults and often presented at libraries)

A presentation by Knitting Out Loud Founder Kathy Goldner

This hour-long presentation, illustrated with photographs and knitted items, will explore the world of knitting past and present through stories.

Grandmothers are a theme throughout this presentation. Kathy Goldner’s knitting story began in pre-war Germany where her grandmother learned to knit. This extraordinary woman shed her Victorian upbringing to become a physician and psychoanalyst, ultimately fleeing Hitler’s Germany to immigrate to the United States.

This and other knitting stories are told, including Debbie Stoller’s story of her Dutch grandmother, who began knitting socks at age six for her family of fifteen.

This talk includes the fascinating history of knitting, as well as the many exciting things going on in the world of knitting today.

Program cost: Call (207) 322-7227 or email kathy@knittingoutloud.com for program fee.
