Out Loud Audiobooks is the umbrella company for Knitting Out Loud and now Cooking Out Loud. The company was founded by Kathy Goldner. Ms. Goldner is the director and founder of the Literature and Art Program for elementary students in mid-coast Maine. She has been bringing the rich world of Greek mythology, Medieval literature, Shakespeare and Nineteenth century American literature to students for ten years. Ms. Goldner loves to knit, cook and garden. She also loves the inspiring stories that have shaped the history of these pursuits. Knitting Out Loud was founded in 2007 to put the literature of knitting and fiber on audio. Cooking Out Loud will launch in 2010, recording the classics of cooking literature.
Kathy Goldner, an avid knitter, was taught to knit by her German grandmother, a World War II refugee and a psychoanalyst who knit while listening to her patients. Returning to knitting many years later, Kathy plunged into the delightful literature of knitting and realized that the agonizing conflict between reading about knitting and knitting could be solved by producing audiobooks of the best knitting titles available.
Award-winning audiobook director /producer Heather Frederick works with Out Loud Audiobooks to guarantee top quality recordings. Heather has been responsible for over seventy-five audiobooks. She is known in the industry as one of the best in the business. As the Publisher and Producer of Audio Bookshelf, many of her productions have been chosen for "Best of the Year" by publications such as Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and School Library Journal.
